PLEX-ID MDR TB Assay
The PLEX-ID MDR TB assay is designed to identify the principle genetic groups of bacteria from the species Mycobacterium tuberculosis from culture isolates and the genes associated with multiple drug resistance for the drugs rifampin (RIF), isoniazid (INH), ethambutol (EMB), and the fluoroquinolone (FQ) class of drugs.
*Magnetic beads and clean-up reagents are included with the T5000 assay but must be purchased separately for use with the PLEX-ID assay.
The PLEX-ID MDR TB assay kit includes:
- 10 Plates (120 Assays)
- Plate Processing Protocol
- PCR Enzyme Dilution Buffer
- DNA Dilution Buffer
- Abbott Taq Polymerase
A clean-up kit is included with the T5000 assay but must be purchased separately for use with the PLEX-ID assay.
Positive, negative, or extraction controls are not provided.
The PLEX-ID MDR TB assay uses 16 primer pairs multiplexed into 8 wells to detect and identify the following:
- M. tuberculosis
- 46 species of Mycobacteria
- Genetic markers of resistance for:
- Rifampin
- Isoniazid
- Fluoroquinolones
- Ethambutol (embB codon 306 mutations)
This assay is designed to report TB bacteria as the principle genetic groups of bacteria from the species Mycobacterium tuberculosis as well as 46 species of Mycobacteria. Some non-TB Mycobacteria are indistinguishable by this assay and will be reported as a group.
