The PLEX-ID C. diff assay is a qualitative, non-diagnostic assay intended for simultaneous identification of Clostridium difficile and several important virulence markers with detection through nucleic acid amplification and subsequent mass spectrometry analysis.
*Magnetic beads and clean-up reagents are included with the T5000 assay but must be purchased separately for use with the PLEX-ID assay.
The PLEX-ID C. diff assay kit includes:
- 10 Plates (120 Assays)
- Plate Processing Protocol
- PCR Enzyme Dilution Buffer
- DNA Dilution Buffer
- PLEX-ID DNA Polymerase
Positive, negative, or extraction controls are not provided.
The assay is designed to rapidly identify C. difficile and the mutations in associated with the tcdC locus and NAP-1 strains while simultaneously detecting tcdA, tcdB, cdtA, and cdtB. This includes:
- Detection and confirmation of all Clostridia species
- Detection of toxins A and B, and binary toxins
- Detection of mutations in tcdC associated with virulence
- Identification of the virulent ribotype B1/NAP1/O27 containing strains
