Food Satefy

To assure food safety, monitoring for the presence of microorganisms is a critical component of almost every food manufacturing process. Whether the goal is to perform raw material, in process or hygiene testing, the PLEX-ID system offers a solution to meet these needs. The PLEX-ID system and assays are designed to provide the ability to identify a broad range of contaminants, down to the strain level, with results in hours instead of days at the level of detail required to identify and determine potential sources of contamination. As an example, the PLEX-ID Food-Borne assay provides the ability to screen for Shigella, Listeria, E. coli and Salmonella in a single analysis direct from sample. The assay can also differentiate E. coli O55:H7 and O157:H7 from other E. coli serotypes, detect and differentiate clusters containing Shiga-toxin producing enterohaemorrhagic non-O157 STECs, and differentiate the eight subspecies (I,II, IIIa, IIIb, IV, V, VI, and VII) of Salmonella enterica. If unknown organisms with novel base composition signatures are detected, these are reported with reference to the closest known species in the database.
